Principal Electrical Engineer – Building Services (Consultancy)
Location: Leicestershire (Hybrid – 2/3 days office-based)
Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 DOE + Excellent Package
Hours: 37.5 per week

About the Role
A leading multi-disciplinary building services consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join their growing team in Leicestershire. Recently acquired by a larger consultancy group, this business offers long-term stability, professional development, and the opportunity to lead high-profile projects across the commercial, industrial, and luxury residential sectors.

As the Principal Electrical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering innovative and sustainable electrical design solutions from concept through to construction (RIBA Stages 2A–5), collaborating closely with clients, architects, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the electrical design process for commercial, industrial, and residential projects

• Deliver detailed electrical designs using Amtech/ProDesign, Dialux, Relux, Revit, and AutoCAD

• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to develop low-energy, sustainable solutions

• Mentor and guide junior engineers, supporting their technical and professional growth

• Conduct site surveys, inspections, and ensure design compliance with industry standards

• Maintain and enhance client relationships through meetings and presentations

• Oversee project delivery, resource planning, and performance management

Skills & Experience

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (essential)

• Degree-qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent)

• Proven experience as a Principal or Senior Electrical Engineer within a building services consultancy

• Strong technical knowledge of sustainable, low-energy electrical design and current UK regulations

• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Amtech/ProDesign, Dialux, and Relux

• Excellent leadership, communication, and client management skills
