Production Manager – Fabrication

Engineering @ 365 is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established UK manufacturing business specialising in high-quality engineering and fabrication solutions. Due to continued investment and growth, including the development of a brand-new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, we are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead operations at their fabrication site.
Job Description:
As Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily fabrication and manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. You will lead a skilled team, manage project-level financials, and drive operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead day-to-day fabrication and manufacturing activities to meet production targets.
Ensure timely delivery of projects while balancing workload and capacity.
Drive improvements in efficiency, output, and quality.
Implement production planning systems including Heijunka, Kanban, and material control practices.
Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation and promote a safety-first culture.
Recruit, train, and retain skilled team members, conducting regular reviews.
Prepare cost estimates, quotations, and monitor job-specific financial performance.
Lead the adoption of Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, Value Stream Mapping, etc.).
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Production Manager/Supervisor in fabrication or manufacturing (metalwork/engineering preferred).
Strong understanding and practical application of Lean Manufacturing.
Experience with costing, quoting, and job-level financial management.
Effective leadership and team development skills.
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong knowledge of HSE regulations.
Desirable:
Degree/HND in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline.
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
