Job Description:

Project Support Engineer

Toton (preferred) | Hybrid working
Up to £50,000 + bonus (~15%)

We are supporting a UK Rail Organisation in the appointment of a Project Support Engineer to strengthen the engineering function responsible for the safety, reliability, and technical performance of a large and diverse wagon fleet (2,000+ assets).

This role sits at the technical heart of the business, providing engineering investigation, documentation management, and technical support across multiple wagon types at varying stages of their lifecycle.

Working within the Group Technical Support team, you will act as a key engineering contact following in-service incidents and failures. You will be responsible for identifying root causes, reviewing maintenance requirements, and ensuring technical documentation remains robust, accurate, and fit for purpose.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring sound judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to translate shop-floor feedback into clear, defensible engineering documentation.

Key responsibilities include:

This is an opportunity to join a well-established rail organisation with significant heritage knowledge and a strong focus on engineering assurance and safety.

You’ll gain exposure to:

The successful candidate will develop rapidly through close collaboration with highly experienced engineers, gaining depth of experience rarely available elsewhere in large rail organisations.

About You

We are keen to speak with engineers who have:

This role would suit a maintenance-focused engineer who enjoys being involved when things go wrong, rather than hands-on fault fixing or purely design-based work.
