Project Manager

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee a high-profile civil engineering project in Coventry. Our client is a well-established Civil and Groundworks Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure projects on time and within budget.

This is a freelance opportunity, ideal for a professional who can take full ownership of project delivery and lead a team effectively from inception through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the project team, ensuring smooth delivery of all civil works.
• Manage multiple complex processes, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines.
• Plan, program, and monitor project progress, reporting regularly on performance and milestones.
• Maintain commercial awareness and ensure projects meet financial targets.
• Act as the Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) and ensure all temporary works are safely managed.
• Foster strong working relationships within the team and with stakeholders, subcontractors, and clients.
• Resolve technical and operational issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to project progress.

Key Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Civil Engineering / Building projects.
• Degree-qualified (BSc/MSc) in Civil Engineering or related discipline (CIOB/ICE membership desirable).
• Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail.
• Demonstrable experience in project planning and programming from start to finish.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Capable of reading and managing temporary works drawings.

• CSCS Card
• SMSTS
• Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC)
• First Aid at Work
• DBS clearance (If you don’t have one, we can guide you with the process or apply on your behalf)
