We’re looking for a driven and detail‑focused Quality Assurance Technician to join our fast‑paced food manufacturing site in Burton‑on‑Trent. This is a temp to perm opportunity offering long‑term stability, structured training, and clear progression in a high‑care environment.
Shift Pattern
Rotating weekly shifts:
06:00 – 14:00
14:00 – 22:00
One week on each shift
Flexibility required to support production needs
Pay Rates
Starting rates (pre‑training):
Basic: £12.55 per hour
Overtime (over 40 hours): £15.69 per hour
Sunday OT (over 40 hours): £18.83 per hour
Post‑training increased rates:
Basic: £13.15 per hour
Overtime (over 40 hours): £16.44 per hour
Sunday OT (over 40 hours): £19.73 per hour
Primary Purpose of the Role
To ensure full compliance with HACCP, Quality Management Systems, GMP, food safety, hygiene standards, and traceability. You will champion quality across the site and support continuous improvement in all areas.
Key Responsibilities
Drive product quality and promote a strong QA culture across manufacturing teams
Train, coach, motivate, and develop production operatives into a proactive, high‑performing team
Support QA Supervisors and senior technical management with BRCGS certification and ongoing compliance
Lead and participate in customer and third‑party audits, including corrective actions and root cause analysis
Implement quality improvements through regular QA assessments and involvement in QA panels
Conduct daily factory floor checks to ensure GMP, hygiene, and system compliance
Play a key role in maintaining HACCP compliance
Assess raw material intake against defined standards
Trend and analyse quality and compliance data, presenting findings and driving corrective action plans
Act as part of the Critical Incident Management Team when required
Validate and verify product safety, legality, and compliance, including paperwork checks, weight control, recipe validation, and sample collection
Person Specification Essential
Experience leading or managing teams in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment
Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office, data trending, graphing, and pivot tables
Ability to plan and prioritise effectively
Leads by example and encourages teamwork and continuous improvement
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong customer service mindset

Excellent time management and organisational skills
