
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of this dynamic piling and ground civil engineering specialist. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in cost management, contractual administration, and commercial control across a diverse portfolio of piling and civil engineering projects nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare cost estimates and detailed bills of quantities for piling and foundation scope packages.
Analyse tender documentation, drawings and specifications to produce accurate commercial submissions.
Assist with the preparation and submission of competitive tenders and proposals in line with company strategy.
Monitor contract costs, valuations, variations, valuations and progress payment applications.
Collaborate with project teams to ensure cost control, forecasting and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
Administer commercial aspects of contracts, including CDM, NEC, JCT or bespoke agreements as applicable.
Review subcontractor and supplier quotations, manage procurement and support negotiations where required.
Produce regular commercial reports, cash flow forecasts and cost plans for senior stakeholders.
Support senior commercial colleagues with contract close-out, claims preparation and settlement.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
Experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in construction, civil engineering or groundworks (piling exposure preferred).
Working knowledge of cost planning, measurement, procurement and contract law/administration.
Proficient in commercial reporting, valuations, risk management and financial control.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
Strong attention to detail with commercial and analytical acumen.
Desirable:
Experience working with NEC or JCT contracts.
Ability to interpret technical/geotechnical drawings and understand specialist piling workstreams.
Competent in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office suite.
