Quantity Surveyor / Contracts Manager – Structural Steel

I’m working with a specialist structural steel company known for delivering complex, heavy engineering projects across the UK. Their portfolio includes large-scale structural steel frameworks, industrial chimneys, and engineered steel structures for energy, MOD, and industrial sectors.

They are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor who also has a solid understanding of Contracts Management to join their commercial team.

Role Overview:

You’ll be responsible for overseeing all commercial and contractual aspects of major steelwork projects, from pre-contract to final account. This is a key role with strong visibility across the business, offering long-term progression within a dynamic and growing company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Full cost management across steelwork projects, including procurement, valuations, and final accounts

• Administering contracts and managing variations, claims, and contractual obligations

• Working closely with clients, subcontractors, and the internal team to ensure commercial success

• Supporting project delivery with contract negotiation and compliance

• Monitoring project profitability, risk, and performance

• Supporting tender processes and cost planning where required

Requirements:

• Strong experience as a Quantity Surveyor within structural steel or related heavy engineering sectors

• Knowledge of NEC, JCT, and bespoke contracts

• Exposure to contracts management duties is highly desirable

• Excellent negotiation, commercial, and communication skills

• Able to manage complex, high-value packages independently

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially strong QS looking to expand into contract management, or someone already straddling both functions looking for a more senior, autonomous role.
