Quantity Surveyor – Tier 2 Main Contractor

Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 + Benefits

We are working with a highly regarded Tier 2 main contractor to recruit a motivated and detail-driven Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. With a head office in Nottinghamshire and projects across the East and West Midlands, our client delivers high-quality schemes in construction, fit out, refurbishment, and building envelope sectors, typically valued between £5 million and £30 million.

The Role – Quantity Surveyor
As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be working alongside a Senior QS or Commercial Manager to manage costs, contracts, and relationships across multiple live projects. You’ll be hands-on in delivering commercial support, keeping financials tight and transparent, and helping projects stay on track and profitable.
Key Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:
Assist in the commercial management of live projects across the Midlands
Prepare and monitor project budgets, cash flows, and cost forecasts
Carry out valuations and support cost reporting processes
Manage subcontractor procurement and payment processes
Work with JCT, D&B, and NEC contract frameworks
Support with variations, claims, and interim/final account agreements
Liaise with site and project teams to ensure financial accuracy
Help prepare monthly CVRs and financial progress reports
Attend client and internal progress meetings as required
Contribute to building strong relationships with clients and subcontractors
What We’re Looking For in a Quantity Surveyor:
Experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor
Background in construction, fit out, refurb, or envelope works
Working knowledge of JCT, D&B, and NEC contracts
Ability to manage commercial duties across multiple sites
Based within commutable distance to Nottinghamshire or willing to travel in the Midlands
Competent with Excel and commercial management systems
Comfortable in both office and on-site environments
Strong organisational and communication skills
Positive, proactive, and ready to take on more responsibility
Full UK driving licence
