
Belmont Recruitment are currently looking to speak with Refuge Practitioners for positions available in the Leicester area for initial 3 month contracts.
We are recruiting Refuge Practitioners to provide practical, emotional and developmental support to women and children affected by domestic abuse. The role is based within confidential refuge accommodation across Leicestershire and plays a vital part in creating a safe, supportive and empowering environment for residents.

Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and group-based support to women and their children living in refuge accommodation
Support service coordination to ensure the refuge operates safely and effectively
Take referrals and support admissions into the refuge
Maintain accurate, confidential case records and support plans
Liaise with partner agencies including housing, health, education and safeguarding services
Support women to access benefits, welfare rights, training and education opportunities
Facilitate house meetings and support mothers around their children’s wellbeing and development
Contribute to service development, monitoring and quality assurance activity
Work across multiple locations and dispersed accommodation when required
Support and work alongside sessional staff and volunteers
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Experience working with vulnerable adults and/or children
Experience working within safeguarding policies and procedures
A good understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on women and children
Strong communication, organisational and administrative skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Commitment to equality, diversity and non-discriminatory practice
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
Desirable:
Experience in a refuge, hostel or supported accommodation setting
Relevant qualification (e.g. social work, housing, counselling or similar)
Experience working in the voluntary or community sector
Experience supporting colleagues or volunteers
Understanding of funding and monitoring requirements within support services
Additional Information:
The role includes evening, weekend and occasional bank holiday working
Access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence is required
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check
Due to the nature of the service, confidentiality of location is essential
Contract: 3 Months (+ongoing)
Salary: £19 to £21 per hour
