Do you want to make a difference in young people’s lives? A vibrant All-Through School in Coventry is looking to appoint a committed and caring Teaching Assistant to join their Secondary Department. You’ll play a vital role in providing general classroom assistance across a range of subjects, as well as targeted support for pupils who speak Romanian as an additional language. Therefore, you must be able to speak both Romanian and English with confidence to be a successful applicant.

The School:

Their Secondary Department provides a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum where pupils are encouraged to excel academically and personally. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom support across a range of subjects in the Secondary Department
• Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum, with a focus on supporting those with Romanian as an additional language to ensure equal access to learning opportunities
• Work closely with teachers to deliver tailored learning interventions
• Promote inclusion, positive behaviour and high standards of learning in line with school policies 
• Support the wider school community and contribute to a safe, respectful learning environment

Qualifications:

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (essential)
• A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or above) is desirable
• Additional training in EAL (English as an Additional Language) support is advantageous

Skills and Attributes:

• Fluent in both English and Romanian is essential
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Effective organisational skills 
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
• A patient, adaptable and proactive approach to supporting learning
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and the ethos of the school
• Knowledge of the DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2025) statutory guidance
