School Cleaner

Job Description:

We are recruiting reliable, experienced cleaners to work in schools across Leicester on short- to medium-term contracts. These roles require people who can turn up, work hard, and follow instructions in a school environment where standards and safeguarding matter.

This is not casual cleaning work. Experience is expected.

Key Responsibilities

• General cleaning of classrooms, corridors, toilets, offices, and communal areas.

• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting to a high standard.

• Cleaning and sanitising touch points and high-traffic areas.

• Emptying bins and disposing of waste correctly.

• Using cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and correctly.

• Following school health & safety and safeguarding procedures at all times.

• Locking up and securing areas where required.

Person Specification

Essential

• Previous professional cleaning experience (school or commercial preferred).

• Ability to work independently and complete tasks to a high standard.

• Reliable, punctual, and consistent — no excuses.

• Physically capable of manual cleaning duties.

• Basic understanding of health & safety procedures.

• Willingness to work in different school settings across Leicester.

Desirable

• Previous experience cleaning in schools or similar environments.

• Knowledge of COSHH.

• Flexibility to accept short-notice bookings.

Safeguarding & Compliance

• Enhanced DBS check required.

• Two references required, including most recent employer.

• Proof of right to work in the UK required.

• Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe environment for children.
