Job Description

As a Secondary English Teacher, you’ll take the lead in shaping pupils’ understanding of literature, language, and communication. Your role will spark curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and help students discover their authentic voice. Deliver engaging lessons that make Shakespeare feel timeless and persuasive writing feel powerful. With creative freedom in the classroom, you’ll guide pupils through classic and contemporary works, adapting your approach to support a diverse range of learners.

You’ll do more than tick the curriculum box—your lessons will help students build confidence in reading, writing, and speaking. Whether it’s through lively debates, poignant poetry analysis, or linking texts to real-world issues, you’ll inspire students to connect learning with life beyond the classroom. You’ll also have the chance to lead extracurricular offerings like book clubs, drama productions, or debating societies. This role is perfect for someone who values academic rigour and personal growth in equal measure.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• QTS or equivalent qualification in English teaching.
