Job Description:
Empowering Learning are recruiting a SEND Class Teacher to work in a special needs school in the Nottinghamshire. Experience working in a school setting and experience with SEND pupils is a must. QTS or QTLS is preferred but not essential, as attitude and personality are absolutely key. The ability to teach across the primary curriculum and the knowledge of sensory learning is essential also.
The ideal candidate will:
- Class teacher experience (particularly in SEND)
- Have the ability to teach EYFS/primary age pupils.
- Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
- Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgrounds
- Have excellent behaviour management skills
- Understand the expectations against the Teachers Standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning.
- Supporting SEND children with their work in a class setting
- Managing difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policy
- Safeguarding vulnerable pupils
- Possible supervising on lunch and break times
- Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
- Building relationships with staff and pupils
- Collecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessments
- Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progress
- To have pastoral responsibility for a group of pupils
- Potentially lead in a subject area
- Ensure a team approach to education with stakeholders such as parents and carers
