Senior Bridge Inspector

Job Description:

An established and growing engineering consultancy is seeking a Bridge Inspector / Structural Inspector to support bridge inspection and structural investigation projects across the UK. You will work on a wide range of structures including highway bridges, railway bridges, footbridges, suspension bridges and aqueducts, supporting inspection programmes for both private clients and major infrastructure asset owners. This role offers strong technical exposure and ongoing professional development, including support to achieve LANTRA Bridge Inspection Competence Scheme (BICS) certification if not already held. Key Responsibilities

• Carry out Safety, General and Principal bridge inspections
• Conduct visual inspections, drone surveys and close-up inspections
• Undertake defect surveys, corrosion checks, hammer tap surveys and dimensional measurements
• Assist with non-destructive testing and structural monitoring
• Support specialist investigations of reinforced and post-tensioned concrete structures
• Produce inspection reports and asset management data
• Assist with planning inspection programmes, organising access and liaising with clients

The role may involve working at height, confined spaces and specialist access methods (rope access, MEWPs and water access). Some travel and occasional night/weekend work may be required.

Requirements

Essential

• Qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering (HNC/HND or similar)
• Experience inspecting bridges or civil infrastructure
• Experience producing inspection reports
• Knowledge of highway structures inspection standards (CS 450 / IHM)
• LANTRA BICS certification or willingness to obtain
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• Experience with CS 462 investigations
• Knowledge of SMIS, Agile or BridgeStation
• Network Rail PTS
• IPAF / Rope Access / Confined Space / PASMA
• CSCS Card and First Aid
