We're partnered with a leading civil engineering consultancy known for its high-quality delivery across the UK. In the Leicester office, you'll be instrumental in shaping projects from small-scale highway improvements to vast residential and commercial developments.
This role isn't just about design; it's about technical authority and team development. You will report directly to a Director, providing you with high-level exposure and ensuring your commitment to achieving Chartered status (ICE, CIHT, or CIWEM) is fully supported.
Lead Designer: Take full technical responsibility for the design of complex civil infrastructure, including junctions, highways, drainage systems, and sustainable solutions.
Approvals Expert: Deliver all project documentation to meet stringent adoption standards, particularly S278, S38, and S104 agreements.
Technical Mentor: Provide guidance and technical checks for junior and intermediate engineers, actively contributing to the growth and capability of the team.
Stakeholder Management: Serve as a key technical liaison for clients, local authorities, contractors, and statutory bodies (e.g., the Environment Agency).
Reporting & Feasibility: Produce high-quality technical reports, flood risk assessments, and contribute to initial fee proposals and scheme viability.
We are looking for a technically excellent engineer who is ready for a leadership position.
A Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant post-graduate experience.
Extensive experience in highway and junction design principles and standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets).
Expert proficiency in key design software, including AutoCAD, Civils 3D, and hydraulic modelling tools (e.g., Flow/Microdrainage).
Proven knowledge of statutory processes including S278, S38, S104, and NRSWA.
Excellent communication, time management, and demonstrable mentoring skills.
Chartered Engineer status (ICE, CIHT, or CIWEM) is highly desirable, or you must be actively working towards it.
Experience in specialist areas like Active Travel design (LTN1/20), utilities coordination, or public realm schemes.
