About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Economist to join our Economics team within the Strategy and Planning Directorate. In this role, you’ll provide expert economic advice and analysis to support key projects and programmes, ensuring decision-makers have the insights they need to deliver value for money across our Road Investment Strategy.
What you’ll be doing
- Producing value-for-money statements for individual schemes to inform investment decisions.
- Delivering economic analysis to support business cases and funding decisions.
- Acting as a business partner for medium-to-high value projects, advising on economic content and capability.
- Undertaking research to improve appraisal methods and processes.
- Working with modelling experts to assess macroeconomic impacts of our activities.
- Advising on wider economic benefits and recommending strategies for assessment.
About you
You’ll have:
- A graduate or postgraduate degree in economics (or with a significant economics component).
- Professional experience as an economist, ideally in transport, infrastructure, or economic development.
- Strong communication skills to translate complex economic concepts for non-experts.
- Knowledge of transport and highways economics (desirable).
