Salary and Hours

• £45,000 - £50,000, dependant on experience
• 40 hours per week, with an earlier finish on Friday’s
• 28 days holiday, which increases with service

Commutable From: Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield, Leicester, Newark on Trent, Grantham

Role Overview / Focus

• The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for executing and leading the full design & development process from concept to manufacture. 
• You will have a proven background in visualising the design, with the ability to develop overall concept, new parts and components in a wide range of manufacturing industries. 

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Candidate Key Requirements

• Qualifications: Degree and HND will be considered. 
• Ideally 8-10+ years’ experience in a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer / Senior Product Design Engineer role. Solidworks experience is essential!
• Conceptual design, with a real flair for creative design, not just functional. 
• Proven experience of the whole product lifecycle, from concept all the way through to production.
• Plastics / Injection Moulding experience is important, but you will also have experience of other processes. 
• Someone confident in bringing and implementing their own ideas. 
• Any electrical, electronic or electrical schematics experience would be advantageous – or willing at least to take it on as projects dictate. 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full design and development of new products, parts, and components from concept through to final production, ensuring designs are safe, functional, and cost-efficient.
• The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will create complex CAD assemblies and detailed production drawings using SolidWorks, maintaining compliance with ISO9001 standards.
• Perform mechanical design calculations and analyses, and produce comprehensive technical documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, and electrical schematics.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers, providing technical guidance to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
• Manage project timelines effectively, estimating completion dates accurately, and consistently represent the company professionally while adhering to internal processes and policies.
