Senior SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description:

We are currently recruiting a Senior SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist SEND school in Leicester, supporting older pupils with a range of additional needs. This role is ideal for an experienced SEND practitioner who is confident supporting learning, behaviour, and classroom routines, and who can lead the class in the teacher’s absence when required.

• Supporting older pupils with SEND on a 1:1 and small group basis

• Assisting with planning and delivering learning activities

• Leading the class and maintaining learning routines when the teacher is absent

• Supporting behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies

• Promoting a structured, safe, and inclusive learning environment

• Supporting with personal care where required

• Following EHCPs, behaviour plans, and safeguarding procedures

• Previous experience working within SEND or specialist education settings

• Confident supporting and managing a classroom environment

• Strong behaviour management and leadership skills

• Calm, resilient, and organised approach

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
