Job Description:

Title: Senior Sonographer

Hours 37.5

Pay £48,000 - £60,000

Prime responsibility:

To provide NOUS diagnostics to patients on behalf of the company whilst adhering to the highest quality standards of ultrasound Practice patient care, in accordance with company standards, procedures and protocols.

Accountable to: Head of Operations

Key tasks/responsibilities:

• To provide general abdominal,gynae, pelvic, small parts and vascular/MSK/Early Pregnancy (if appropriately trained) ultrasound scanning services in conjunction with other Sonographers and health care professionals.
• To independently perform ultrasound scanning duties to the required standards of Diagnostic World and client partners and to produce a clinical report for each ultrasound scan undertaken.
• To undertake any administrative duties necessary for speedy progression of patients and patient results e.g. Patient Escalations.
• To actively participate in matters concerning clinical governance, clinical audit and assessment
• To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
• To undertake any equipment tests as part of Diagnostic Healths's quality assurance program and to reprt any equipment faults to the service manager
• To adhere to company policy and procedures in terms of health and safety, data protection and confidentiality and SOPs
• To give full co-operation in any investigations of a complaint or untoward incident and comply with company procedure to that effect.
• To ensure that professional and technical knowledge/expertise is kept up to date and to maintain a portfolio to show evidence of personal professional development.
• To participate in individual performance review (appraisal) on an annual basis.
• To hold, and when required exchange with colleagues, company assets required to carry out service effectively.

Additional/ad-hoc responsibilities:

• Second opinion on discrepancy cases
• Advice on a complaint/incident
• Assist with recruitment lead and introduce new Sonographers on ad-hoc basis and attendance at BMUS stand

The employee will be expected to provide a comprehensive diagnostic ultrasound reporting service to a range of clients and in agreed locations.

The employee will enjoy terms based on the agreed Terms and Conditions as outlined in the Diagnostic World practicing privileges contract.

Diagnostic World requires all employees to have and maintain full registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of a healthcare professional as laid out by the HPC and the United Kingdom Association of Sonographers (UKAS).

Diagnostic World requires the employee to provide the appropriate level of indemnity insurance cover for the work undertaken on behalf of the company.

All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, DBS and occupational health Clearance being obtained.

The appointment is exempt from the provisions of Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 by virtue of the Rehabilitation Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975. Employees are not entitled therefore to withold information about convictions which for other purpsoes are 'spent' under the provision of the Act, and in the event of employing any failure to disclose such convictions could result in the termination of employment.
