πΉ Role Overview
The Senior Support Worker plays a key role in ensuring young people receive consistent, safe, and therapeutic care. You will lead by example, support junior staff, and contribute to creating a positive, homely environment where every young person feels valued, respected, and supported to achieve their full potential.
πΉ Key Responsibilities
Supporting Young People
Build and maintain safe, trusting, and professional relationships with young people.
Promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive behaviour.
Encourage healthy routines, education, hobbies, and independent living skills.
Ensure consistent boundaries and appropriate responses to behaviour.
Support young people during admission, placement, transition, and leaving care.
Organise group activities, day-to-day routines, and contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
Leadership & Team Responsibilities
Lead shifts and ensure the home operates smoothly and safely.
Support, guide, and mentor care staff and trainees.
Attend reviews, planning meetings, and contribute to multi-agency work.
Work collaboratively with social workers, families, and external professionals.
Promote high standards of safeguarding and therapeutic practice at all times.
Participate in staff supervision, appraisal, and ongoing professional development.
Administrative & Compliance Duties
Maintain accurate and detailed records, including incident reports and progress notes.
Manage petty cash and follow financial procedures.
Uphold all company policies, safeguarding standards, and statutory regulations.
Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed in line with organisational requirements.
Support senior management and deputise in their absence when required.

Experience supporting young people in residential care or a similar setting.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection processes.
Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and consistent in challenging situations.
Commitment to equality, diversity, confidentiality, and therapeutic practice.
Willingness to undertake all mandatory training and qualifications.
