Looked After Children (LAC) Social Worker

Leicester City Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join our Looked After Children (LAC) service. This is a vital role focused on achieving stability and permanency for our most vulnerable children and young people.
You will be joining a supportive team where relationships matter—both with the families we serve and the colleagues we work alongside.
Key Responsibilities
This team is specifically focused on the long-term journey of the child. Your day-to-day priorities will include:
- Progression of Care Plans: Managing the plans for children and young people with a goal of remaining in care.
- Permanency Planning: proactive consideration and actioning of discharge of care orders and Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs) where appropriate.
- Court Work: Expertly handling court proceedings; candidates must have confidence and prior experience in this area.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualification: Experienced Level 3 Social Worker.
- Court work experience is essential.
- Specific LAC experience is highly desired, however, we are keen to hear from experienced candidates with a strong background in Child Protection (CP) or Assessment who are looking to transfer their skills into LAC.
- Active registration with Social Work England.
