How you’ll spend your day

As a Software Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the design, development, and maintenance of complex backend systems, working closely with a small, experienced team.

You’ll be:

• Developing and maintaining applications using C# .NET (Core)
• Contributing to the design of scalable, high-performance systems handling large volumes of data
• Building backend services and APIs to support web and mobile applications
• Working on a variety of projects, from real-time data processing to reporting and analytics platforms
• Collaborating with team members to scope requirements and deliver effective technical solutions
• Supporting integrations with third-party systems such as CRM and finance platforms
• Participating in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of development practices
• Gaining exposure to modern technologies including cloud platforms, microservices, and containerisation

What you’ll bring to this role

We’re looking for someone with a solid foundation in software development who is eager to grow and take on more responsibility within a supportive environment.

You’ll bring:

• Commercial experience with C# .NET / .NET Core
• Experience working on complex or data-driven systems
• Knowledge of LINQ and Entity Framework
• Familiarity with Git and tools such as JIRA
• Understanding of software development best practices and system design principles
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team

Nice to have (but not essential):

• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
• Experience with APIs, microservices, or distributed systems
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or modern DevOps practices
• Frontend experience (e.g. Angular)
• Experience working with large datasets or NoSQL databases
• Exposure to Claude and AI

Most importantly, you’ll have a curious mindset, a willingness to learn, and a proactive approach to development.

• 4-day week (8am–6pm) with Monday or Friday off
• 5-day week with flexi-time (core hours 9:30am–4:30pm)

Hybrid working – typically 1 day per week in the Derby office
