Applebough Education is working with several Secondary Schools in the Coventry area who are seeking energetic, reliable, and confident Sports Coaches to support PE departments and cover lessons across a range of year groups.

This is an excellent opportunity for sports professionals, coaching specialists, or graduates looking to gain school-based experience—perfect for those considering a future in teaching or education.

The Role

As a Sports Coach working in Secondary Schools, you will:

• Deliver engaging sports and physical activity sessions

• Supervise and manage classes in the absence of the PE teacher

• Support students in developing their fitness, teamwork, and confidence

• Maintain good behaviour management and ensure a safe, positive learning environment

• Adapt sessions for mixed abilities and promote full participation

• Work across various schools depending on demand, offering great flexibility

We’re Looking For

• Experienced Sports Coaches, PE Assistants, or individuals with coaching qualifications

• Confident leaders who can engage and motivate students

• Strong behaviour management and communication skills

• A positive, energetic, and professional approach

• Flexibility to work in different school environments

• Experience working with young people (school, club, or community settings)

Qualifications that are ideal (but not essential):

• Level 2 or above Coaching Qualification

• Sports Degree or relevant subject area

• First Aid or safeguarding training

• Experience delivering sessions to secondary-aged pupils
