Static Plant Operator (Baler) – £12.50–£13.00 p/h + Production Bonus

Location: Ilkeston – Recycling Plant
Hours: Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Are you confident working with static plant in a busy industrial environment? We’re looking for a reliable Static Plant Operator (Baler) to take responsibility for our evening baling operations at our waste processing facility in Ilkeston.

This is a hands-on role overseeing the RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) baling process — essential work that prepares waste material for export to Europe, where it is used to generate electricity. You'll work closely with a Telehandler Operator who feeds the baler, while you manage the system and ensure a smooth, efficient process.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Operating and monitoring the static baler terminal to produce RDF waste bales.
• Overseeing the entire baling process to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Reacting quickly to resolve blockages or issues such as split bales.
• Ensuring safe and clean working conditions around the baler area.
• Working collaboratively with the Telehandler Operator to maintain a continuous feed of material.
• Carrying out minor interventions and reporting faults to reduce downtime.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience operating static plant (baler, crusher, shredder, or similar equipment).
• Good awareness of health & safety procedures in an industrial environment.
• Ability to focus and stay alert during late shifts.
• A team player with strong attention to detail and good reaction times.
• Waste or recycling experience is desirable but not essential.
