Systems and Capital Accountant (Financial)

Organisation: North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC)
Location: Fully remote (equipment collection required from Whitwick Business Centre, LE67 4JP)
Working Pattern: Hybrid and flexible hours available

Job Purpose

To lead on capital accounting and support the financial close of the 2025–26 accounts, taking primary responsibility for the capital element while supporting high-quality financial systems and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the Council’s capital programme
• Undertake capital accounting and support production of the Statement of Accounts
• Administer financial systems and general ledger reporting
• Lead insurance management (cover, claims, procurement)
• Support Council Tax base and government returns
• Provide financial advice and promote value for money
• Maintain high standards of governance, health & safety, and equality

Requirements

• Qualified/part-qualified accountant or significant relevant experience
• Experience in capital accounting (local government/public sector desirable)
• Strong financial systems and reporting knowledge
• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently
