Eaton Syalon are working exclusively with an accountancy practice in Derby to recruit a Tax Associate. You’ll be joining a modern and progressive firm that values initiative and high-quality service. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow within a friendly, busy tax team, supporting a wide range of clients with both compliance and advisory work. You’ll bring enthusiasm, accuracy, and a keen interest in UK tax to a collaborative and people-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation and submission of personal tax returns and VAT returns as required

• Preparation of income and expenditure accounts, rental accounts, and accounts for sole traders and partnerships

• Support with tax advisory and planning services

• Assist in responding to HMRC queries and dealing with tax compliance matters

• Conduct research on tax legislation and support in resolving tax-related issues

• Maintain accurate client records and ensure all documentation is kept up to date

• Support senior staff in client meetings by offering guidance on tax matters

Person Profile:

• Ideally from an accountancy practice background

• ATT qualified or studying towards a tax qualification (e.g. ATT, CTA) preferred but not essential

• A strong interest in UK tax and willingness to stay up to date with legislation changes

• Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients and colleagues

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of tax software (e.g. Iris, TaxCalc, or similar) is an advantage

• A proactive and organised approach to workload and deadlines
