Overview:
The Flavour Network are currently recruiting a Technical Assistant to support the Technical function within a well-established food manufacturing business operating across two sites in Leicester. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career within food safety and technical management in a fast-paced production environment.
As Technical Assistant, you will work closely with the Technical Manager. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support across both high care and low care areas, helping to ensure all food safety, quality and compliance standards are consistently met.
Responsibilities for the Technical Assistant:
- Support the maintenance of the Food Safety Management System in line with BRCGS requirements
- Assist with the day-to-day operation of HACCP, allergen controls and quality procedures
- Carry out document control, record checks and verification activities
- Conduct routine factory inspections across high care and low care environments
- Monitor GMP, personal hygiene, cleaning standards, zoning and segregation
- Report non-conformances and support corrective and preventative actions
- Assist with internal, customer and BRC audits, including preparation of evidence and documentation
- Support closure of audit actions and updating of technical procedures
- Assist with technical approval of new products, raw materials and suppliers
- Support allergen risk assessments, specifications and shelf-life trials
- Help maintain accurate product, ingredient and supplier data
- Support investigation of customer complaints and quality issues
- Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
- Carry out additional tasks to support the Technical Manager and wider Technical team
- Experience within a food manufacturing or food handling environment
- Basic understanding of food safety, hygiene and HACCP principles
- Strong attention to detail with good organisational skills
- Comfortable working on the factory floor within production environments
- Exposure to BRCGS standards, audits or quality management systems is desirable
- Food Safety, Food Science or related qualification is desirable
- Experience within high care is desirable.
