Toolroom CNC Machinist

Job Description:

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a leading manufacturer in Leicester to recruit a Toolroom Machinist. This is a full-time, permanent role within a global aerospace and power generation business, offering long-term career development, structured training and a competitive salary with shift premium.

Salary and Benefits

• £17.80 per hour (inclusive of shift premium)
• 37-hour contract across a three-shift rotation (mornings, afternoons, nights)

The Role
As Toolroom Machinist, you will play a key role in supporting production requirements and project deadlines while ensuring tooling costs are kept to a minimum. Responsibilities include:

• Re-cutting and manufacturing electrodes using CNC and manual machines
• Operating manual surface grinders, CNC milling machines and toolroom machinery
• Inspecting electrodes using CMM and manual gauges
• Re-grinding and manufacturing milling cutters using CNC cutter grinders
• Carrying out assembly and bench work tasks as required
• Liaising with other departments to ensure production requirements are met
• Consistently meeting targets for quality, output and deadlines
• Following company policies including Health and Safety, Code of Conduct and compliance standards

The Person
We are looking for candidates with:

• Proven practical experience within an engineering environment
• An apprenticeship or recognised qualification in a toolroom discipline is desirable
• Hands-on machining experience, ideally CNC and manual milling, grinding and turning
• Knowledge of CNC cutter grinding would be an advantage
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Excellent attention to detail with a structured, methodical approach
• A proactive, self-motivated attitude with good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to problem-solve and achieve results to tight deadlines
