Trainee Maintenance Fitter
Location: Leicester
Salary: £28,500 – £29,800 per year (dependent on knowledge/experience)
Hours: 42.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent / Full-time
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated individual with a mechanical background or strong interest in machinery to join our maintenance team as a Trainee Maintenance Fitter.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who may not yet have full fitting experience but has mechanical knowledge, practical skills, and the right attitude to learn. You’ll be trained and supported by an experienced team while working on a wide variety of machinery and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with maintenance, refurbishment, and installation of plant, machinery, and equipment
- Supporting servicing, repairs, and operational checks on machinery
- Learning fabrication skills, including steelwork and mould production
- Using various hand tools and workshop equipment
- Working on a range of machinery, including: FLTs, power tools, concrete machines, saws, moulds, overhead cranes, presses, conveyors, mixing plant, and crushing plant
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Following strict Health & Safety procedures at all times
Skills & Experience Required
- Mechanical knowledge or hands-on experience (e.g. car mechanics, engineering, fabrication)
- Willingness to learn and develop as a fitter
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Reliable and able to work as part of a team
- Commitment to safe working practices
