Location: Wakefield
Salary: £34,000 starting, rising to £38,000 after 6 months

We're looking for an experienced Transport Broker / Trader to join our high-performing operations team in Wakefield. With a growing portfolio of national accounts and a well-established subcontractor network, this is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment and is ready to take their career to the next level.

What You'll Get

• £34,000 starting salary, rising to £38,000 after successful 6-month probation

What You'll Do

• Plan and allocate loads daily, balancing service and profit
• Use freight exchange platforms to secure additional work
• Negotiate rates confidently with hauliers and subcontractors
• Build lasting relationships with customers and carriers
• Proactively manage delivery performance and resolve issues fast
• Maintain accurate records in our TMS (Mandata)
• Contribute to a collaborative, results-driven team culture

What We're Looking For

You're a confident communicator and natural problem-solver who thrives under pressure. You know the UK transport market, understand the importance of margin and service, and enjoy taking full ownership of your workload.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Previous experience in transport brokerage or subcontract haulage
• Strong negotiating skills and commercial mindset
• Solid knowledge of UK geography and general haulage operations
• Familiarity with transport regulations (drivers' hours, WTD, etc.)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and transport software
• Experience using TMS (Mandata preferred)
