Workshop Engineer (Forklifts & Material Handling Equipment)

Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire

Salary: £15 – £18 per hour (DOE) | £31,200 – £37,440

Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:00am – 4:00pm | 40 hours per week - Overtime Available

Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Workshop Engineer to join their growing team in Loughborough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to work within a well-established and supportive business, maintaining a modern fleet of forklift trucks and material handling equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Service, repair and maintain forklift trucks and material handling equipment

- Carry out diagnostics across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems

- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs

- Conduct thorough examinations, including LOLER-style inspections

- Prepare equipment for hire and dispatch, ensuring high-quality standards

- Complete job sheets and service reports accurately

- Liaise with the parts department to ensure efficient turnaround of repairs

- Carry out in-house servicing, refurbishment and rebuild work

- Fault finding and repair on both internal combustion (IC) and electric trucks

- Support other engineers when required and contribute to team productivity

- Ensure all machines are workshop-ready for the hire fleet

- Work closely with the Service Manager to maintain workflow and output

Skills & Experience:

- Background in forklift, plant, HGV or material handling industries

- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability

- Good understanding of hydraulic systems

- Ability to work independently within a workshop environment

- Strong communication skills and attention to detail with paperwork

- A proactive and team-oriented approach

Additional Requirements:

- Full UK driving licence required
