💰 £35,000 – £45,000 + Benefits

An established and growing engineering business in Ilkeston is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of mechanical projects across the UK.

This role sits within a specialist controls and M&E division delivering projects ranging from £50k to £8m, with a typical project value of £1–2m.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with around 2 years’ experience who is looking to take more ownership of packages within a supportive commercial team.

The Role

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of elements across multiple projects.

Responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with cost management and budget control

• Subcontractor procurement and package management

• Valuations and variations

• Supporting CVR processes

• Cost reporting

• Working closely with Project Managers and Engineers

• Supporting final accounts

You will gain exposure to projects from pre-contract through to final account.

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role

• Experience working on mechanical, M&E, LV or MV projects preferred

• Understanding of subcontractor management

• Experience with valuations and variations

• Commercially aware and detail-oriented

• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or similar (preferred)

This role would suit someone currently working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Graduate QS ready for the next step.
