Business Development Manager – Legal

Our client, a highly respected professional services firm with a strong regional and national presence, is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Business Development Manager to join their growing National Business Development team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic thinker with a proven track record of driving growth and developing strong client relationships. The role will focus on identifying and securing new business opportunities, supporting revenue growth, and expanding the firm’s mid-market and corporate client base across the East Midlands.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the firm’s long-term growth strategy
- Develop and implement new initiatives to drive revenue and business expansion across the region
- Identify, pursue, and convert new business and cross-selling opportunities within new and existing client relationships
- Monitor market developments and competitor activity to inform business development planning
- Coach, mentor, and support Partners and senior stakeholders on business development best practice
- Work closely with senior leadership to design and deliver innovative products and services that enhance client relationships and create new revenue streams
- Attend networking and business functions, representing the firm professionally and gathering market insights
- Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with intermediaries and referral partners
- Manage and maintain BD pipelines, CRM systems, and reporting processes
- Plan and deliver targeted business development campaigns, seminars, webinars, and client events
- Collaborate with Marketing, PR, and Digital teams to maximise the reach and impact of campaigns
Skills and Experience Required
- Strategic and commercially astute, with a proactive approach to business growth
- In-depth understanding of the UK corporate, mid-market, and SME landscape
- Demonstrable success in generating and delivering new business within a professional services or commercial environment
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage at senior levels
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify new routes to market
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders and driving collaborative initiatives
- Excellent project management and prioritisation skills, with a focus on delivering results
- Commercially aware and financially literate, with an understanding of profitability and growth targets
- Proficiency in CRM systems (such as Microsoft Dynamics), Microsoft Office, and digital business tools
- Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to brief creative teams and produce engaging marketing copy
