Job Description:

Credit Controller Salary £28,000-£32,000
Permanent Role – Syston
Hybrid Working

Are you an experienced Credit Controller who enjoys solving complex queries, building relationships, and taking real ownership of your ledger?
We are working with a growing organisation that is investing heavily in modernising its finance function. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative credit control team during an exciting period of change, where you will play a key role in improving processes, resolving complex queries, and helping establish best-in-class credit control standards.
This role goes beyond traditional collections. It requires someone inquisitive, solutions-focused, and comfortable digging into the detail to resolve issues, liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders to drive outcomes.

The Role
You will join a credit control team of experienced professionals in a business that is currently evolving its billing and credit control processes following the implementation of a new finance system.
Your focus will be on owning and managing your ledger end-to-end resolving queries, building relationships, and ensuring debt is reduced effectively. You will also contribute to documenting and improving processes as the team works towards creating a “gold standard” credit control function.

Key Responsibilities
• Take full ownership of an assigned ledger, proactively managing and reducing outstanding debt
• Investigate and resolve complex queries relating to invoices, billing and payments
• Liaise with internal teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth communication across departments
• Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including local authorities
• Follow up on outstanding issues and drive resolutions rather than passing queries elsewhere
• Support the documentation and improvement of credit control processes
• Contribute ideas that help modernise and strengthen the credit control function

About You
• Experienced Credit Controller with a broad understanding of credit control beyond high-volume collections
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Solutions-focused and proactive when dealing with complex queries
• Able to take ownership and accountability for your work and ledger
• Strong communicator who can build relationships across teams and with external stakeholders
• Curious, inquisitive and open to learning new processes and systems
• Adaptable and comfortable working in an environment where processes are evolving
Experience working with local authorities would be beneficial but is not essential.

The Opportunity
This business is growing and investing in its finance function, creating genuine opportunities for development and progression. As the organisation continues to expand, there may be opportunities to grow within the team or move across the wider finance department.
You’ll be joining a supportive team of experienced professionals who value collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement — all while working for a business with a strong purpose and impact.
