
Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential (Learning Disabilities)
Location: Burton on Trent (DE14)
Pay: £15.50 per hour plus £70 per sleep-in
Average annual salary: £37,900+ (based on 38 hours per week and 2 sleep-ins)
The Role
We are recruiting an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to support the effective running of a children’s residential home for young people with Learning Disabilities. This is a hands-on leadership role, supporting the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality, child-centred care and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Requirements
Minimum Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Residential Children’s Care
Full UK driving licence
Proven experience in children’s residential care, ideally with young people with LD
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, care planning, behaviour support, and Ofsted standards
Ability to lead and support staff, manage rotas, and respond to incidents
Confident in ad-hoc on-call duties
Hours & Working Pattern
38 hours per week, plus sleep-ins
Shifts between 9:30am and 11:00pm, Monday to Sunday
Typical rota: 1 shift on, 2 days off

Key Responsibilities
Support the Registered Manager in day-to-day operations
Lead and supervise staff, providing guidance and mentoring
Manage rotas and shift cover effectively
Respond to incidents, safeguarding concerns, and emergencies
Assist with care planning, documentation, and inspections
Ensure positive outcomes and high-quality care for young people
