Design Manager / Senior Design Manager – East Midlands

We’re working with a well-established East Midlands construction business that continues to secure a strong pipeline of work across the region. As a result, they’re looking to bring in an experienced Design Manager to support delivery across a range of projects.

This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the detail while still taking ownership of the wider design process.

The Role:
You’ll be responsible for managing and coordinating the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery. Working closely with commercial, operational, and external consultant teams, you’ll ensure designs are compliant, buildable, and delivered on programme.

Projects are varied and include commercial, industrial, and mixed-use schemes across the East Midlands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the design process from tender through to completion
• Coordinate external consultants and internal stakeholders
• Review design information for compliance, buildability, and value
• Drive design programmes and ensure key milestones are met
• Identify and manage design risks and opportunities
• Support pre-construction teams with bid and tender submissions
• Liaise with site teams to resolve design issues during delivery

What They’re Looking For:

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing
• Experience across a range of build sectors (commercial/industrial preferred)
• Confident managing multiple stakeholders and design teams
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment
• Relevant construction or design qualification preferred
