Job Description:
We have an exciting opportunity on board for an experienced Estimator to join our client, a leading privately owned Main Contractor based in Lutterworth, Leicestershire (LE17).
Established in excess of 20 years, their projects include works across the healthcare, commercial and education sectors ranging in value from £50,000 to £6,500,000 on a Design & Build or pre-designed arrangement.
As an integral member of the pre-construction team, the Estimator will be responsible for producing competitive tender submissions, compiled using a combination of trade package subcontract enquiries and first-principal pricing methods.
Experience working on refurbishments projects in the above noted sectors in an Estimating capacity is essential for this role.
Work is nationwide and therefore travel and occasional overnight lodging may be required to undertake tender surveys on relevant sites.
Key Responsibilities for the Estimator will include:
- Review of tender documentation to establish subcontract trade package and material requirements.
- Assess tender documentation to compile individual trade package subcontract enquiries.
- Compilation and issuing of tender enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assessment and alignment of received subcontract tenders.
- Identify and compile Tender Qualifications / Exclusions.
- Produce Tender Cost document from in-house standard form / format.
- Identify any ‘gaps’ in pricing and capture via means of labour / plant / material pricing from 1st principle.
- Ability to identify and build tender stage programmes.
- Produce take-offs for general works (floor finishes, partitions, ceiling finishes etc).
- Pricing of project Preliminaries based on programme durations and identification of preliminary requirements (welfare, waste, protection etc).
Key skills and experience required for the Estimator include:
- 3-5 Years Estimating experience in a Main Contracting capacity
- Experienced working on refurbishment projects
- Experienced in producing tender submissions
- Ability to work well under pressure, to meet tight timescales and deadlines.
- Work well as part of a team as well as the ability to work with own initiative.
- Committed to work beyond the core hour to ensure timescales and deadlines are achieved.
- Desire and commitment to develop understanding of the role and the construction industry and differing sectors.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Excellent time management and negotiation skills.
- Successful Enhanced DBS (This will be obtained by the Company as part of the onboarding process).
Advantageous Skills / Experience:
- Good Understanding of JCT / NEC Forms of Contract.
- SMM7 and/or NRM experience
- Degree Qualified / Construction related qualification.
Working Hours:
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, 40 hours/week

Salary up to £60,000 depending on experience
