Health & Safety SpecialistBased: Leicestershire
Reporting to: Site Operations DirectorSalary: Up to £45,000 plus a range of highly attractive employee benefitsHours of Work: Full time, Permanent Monday to Friday Summary This established UK Manufacturer seeks an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Specialist who can engage with a workforce that fosters high compliancy across all operations. Ideally suited to a candidate who can evidence previous successes within a H&S role, that can continue to champion a culture of safety excellence. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide expert H&S guidance, share best practices, and lead new and inventive initiatives that drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance—locally and across the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Creates and delivers high-performance safety culture by engaging all site employees
- Provides accurate data and insightful reports to site and senior management
- Promote operational excellence through continuous improvement and employee empowerment
- Maintains and manage the H&S site risk register and all internal H&S policies and procedures
- Collaborates with the wider team, sharing cross-site projects and initiatives
- Coaches and supports the leadership team to enhance safety leadership and accountability
- Ensures the health and safety management system is robust, compliant, and effective, meeting HSE regulations and guidelines
- Leads investigations into ‘near misses’, H&S incidents and implements preventative measures
- Designs and delivers H&S training programs to build safety competencies
- Oversees site H&S induction processes for new employees and existing staff
- Takes ownership of H&S accreditation and related compliance activities
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- NEBOSH certification (or equivalent)
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
- Ability to build trust and engage colleagues at all levels
Key Performance Indicators
- Assesses Lost Time Accidents (LTA)
- Manages the process of Volume of Near Miss and Hazard Reports submitted monthly
- Completion rates for H&S safety training
- Monthly completion of H&S meeting notes and raised actions
- Timely completion of all accident reporting

- Comply with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, assessment, and control
- Actively participate in health and safety initiatives
- Promptly report risks, incidents, injuries, and property damage
