Job Description:
W Talent are now working exclusively with a large manufacturing business located in Leicester who are looking to recruit a Days based, Maintenance Team Leader. With a strong presence across the UK this company provides large-scale, manufacturing support to many regulated industries.
The Role
As the Maintenance Team Leader you will be located at the Leicester site where you will coach, manage and improve a multi-skilled, maintenance team with the aim of delivering functional objectives aligned with company goals. You will work closely with the Production and Operations Manager to improve equipment efficiency, develop people, embed lean practices, and ensure full regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance, as well as leading improvement projects and ensuring a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, fire regulations, PAT testing, pressure systems, COSHH, RIDDOR, and company policies
- Lead preventative maintenance and address engineering issues impacting production
- Oversee equipment installation, repair, and replacement
- Manage and develop engineering staff and shift engineers
- Deliver and monitor functional budgets with the General Manager
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams for machinery and part procurement
- Drive continuous improvement in equipment effectiveness and efficiency
- Support environmental and sustainability initiatives
- Train staff on new machinery and systems
- Monitor machine availability and performance metrics
Key Requirements
- HNC in Engineering or equivalent
- Time-served apprenticeship (electrical/mechanical/steam)
- Proven experience in an engineering leadership role
- Familiarity with planned preventative maintenance systems
- Leadership and team management capabilities
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to grasp technical processes quickly
- Commitment to continuous improvement and lean culture

This is a days-based role, working 4 on/4 off, offering a competitive salary of £40,000 to £52,000.
