Management Accountant

Salary: £38,000-£45,000 per annum, DOE

Location: Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire (fully office based)

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm

Role Overview: Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Management Accountant will play a pivotal role in the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely monthly sales data, and ongoing financial analysis and insights. Working in an exceptionally busy organisation with a large turnover of goods, with a multiplicity of VAT requirements, cash, card, and online transactions. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and proactive with strong understanding of financial management principles.

Key Responsibilities of the Management Accountant:

• Creating and maintaining monthly management reports
• Performing variance analysis and tracking costs across departments
• Supporting cash flow forecasts
• Assisting the Finance Manager in maintaining the accounts systems and offer support to the other management users
• Creating and maintaining schedules for accruals and pre-payments
• Posting any other journals required into the accounting system
• Preparing fixed asset schedule and balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting audit preparation and responding to internal financial queries
• Supporting financial administration – oversee invoice coding, ledger maintenance, and routine financial admin tasks such as invoicing trade accounts and bank reconciliations
• Acting as first point of contact for all finance queries
• Acting as line manager for two purchase ledger clerks
• Providing cover for the payroll administrator when they are on holiday / sick / etc.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proactive with the ability to work independently.
• Competence in Microsoft Excel and other relevant applications.
• Strong numerical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Willingness to assist colleagues with various tasks.
• Clear understanding of accounting principles
• AAT qualified
• Working towards or already holding a CIMA or ACCA qualification is desirable
