The Role: Mechanical Design Engineer
 
Salary up to £55k DOE
37.5hrs per week
25 Days Holiday 
 
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing manufacturing business based in Loughborough, Leicestershire. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and commercially aware engineer to play a key role in the design and delivery of engineered products from concept through to completion.
 
The successful candidate will bring proven expertise in SolidWorks, ideally with prior involvement in PDM implementation or management. A strong background in sheet metal design and fabrication is desired, along with the ability to take ownership of projects across their full lifecycle, from initial concept and design development through to production support and final delivery.
 
This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented engineer who is comfortable working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to specification.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks
• Support or contribute to PDM system implementation and ongoing management
• Design for manufacture, with a strong focus on sheet metal fabrication processes
• Manage engineering projects from concept through to completion
• Liaise with production teams to ensure smooth transition from design to manufacture
• Ensure designs meet technical, commercial, and quality standards

About You

• Experienced SolidWorks user (essential)
• Prior exposure to PDM systems and implementation (desirable)
• Strong background in sheet metal design and fabrication
• Demonstrated experience managing projects end-to-end
• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Practical, solutions-focused, and able to work independently
