Mechanical Engineer
Location: Nottingham
Salary: £29,120 + x1.5 overtime rate & x2 call out rate
Hours: Monday – Friday (40 hours per week) + Call-out/Overtime as required
Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. Our client encourages applications from ex-military candidates; however, all applicants will be given due consideration.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the repair, overhaul, and maintenance of gearboxes, electric motors, and pumps within a busy workshop environment. You will ensure that all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, supporting overall workshop performance and customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry out repair, overhaul, and testing of gearboxes, electric motors, and pumps.
- Ensure all work is completed to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
- Complete workshop documentation, job cards, and daily timesheets accurately and on time.
- Maintain high standards of quality, cleanliness, and organisation in the workshop.
- Adhere to all company and workshop Health and Safety protocols, including correct use of PPE.
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve departmental goals and contribute to a team-focused environment.
- Be available for call-out shifts or overtime as required by the Workshop Manager.
- Perform any other reasonable duties within your capabilities as directed by the Workshop Manager.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the repair and maintenance of gearboxes, electric motors, and pumps.
- Good mechanical understanding and problem-solving ability.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of workshop safety protocols and PPE.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, with strong timekeeping and attention to detail.
- Flexible and willing to work outside normal hours when required.
