Procurement Manager

Job Description:

Here at PAM (part of the Saint-Gobain Group) we are looking for a Procurement Manager. This is a new role within our supply chain function and is a genuine opportunity for somebody to come in an make a big impact, and put your stamp on it, if you can excuse the cliches!

In short, you'll be responsible for overseeing the procurement process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.

If you're someone who enjoys developing and implementing procurement strategies this would be right up your street! You will also be managing supplier relationships and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

Given this is a standalone role, you'd need to be someone who can work off your own judgment. You will have support from your Manager and those around you, but the expectation would be you are confident in making and backing up decisions.

We're a business that produces and distributes products with a continuous improvement mindset, therefore there would be the expectation you'd be pivotal in driving continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.

For this role we require somebody to work 4 days a week and are open to considering 3 days. The role can be worked on a hybrid basis out of our recently transformed Nottingham offices, with expectation to travel to our plant in Ilkeston on a weekly basis.

What we're looking for:

• Experience in a similar role and seniority (or a similar standalone role), ideally within a Manufacturing, production or possibly distribution background
• A skill set that includes: negotiation, analytical, financial acumen, communication, relationship building, project and risk management, attention to detail and flexibility.
• Someone who keeps up to date of industry trends and leverages new tools and techniques to advance the business would be advantageous
• Preferably experience in both tender and contract management, as well as improvement projects around purchasing processes
• Professional certification is preferred but not a necessity (MCIPS and /or CILT qualified or working towards)
• Understanding of digital processing technologies - e.g. SAP, Microsoft Packages and Power BI

What you will be doing:

This is a key role with a number of duties, therefore below are some, but not limited to:

• Develop and Implement Procurement Strategies: Formulate and execute long-term procurement strategies aligned with the company's goals
• Conduct market analysis to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings
• Develop cost reduction strategies and initiatives
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability
• Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company standards
• Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure the best possible deals
• Manage contract renewals and amendments
• Streamline procurement processes to improve efficiency and reduce lead times.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of purchase orders.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the inventory management team to avoid stockouts or overstock situations
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
• Development of local Purchasing procedures
• Develop contingency plans for with supply chain teams to help manage disruptions.
• Alongside the management team set sustainability goals for us to achieve in partnership with our suppliers.
