Registered Manager – Children’s EBD Services

About the Role

Hippo Staffing is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client — a respected and growing provider of high-quality, therapeutic residential care for children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead and oversee a children’s residential service in Burton On Trent. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring both homes deliver safe, nurturing, and trauma-informed care that promotes stability, growth, and positive outcomes for young people.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strong and effective leadership.

• Ensure both services comply fully with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards.

• Develop and sustain a positive, therapeutic culture underpinned by child-centred and trauma-informed practice.

• Lead, motivate, and support teams to deliver exceptional care and achieve the best possible outcomes for young people.

• Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development across the setting.

• Ensure robust safeguarding, incident management, and quality assurance processes are in place.

• Manage budgets, staffing levels, and resources effectively.

• Drive continuous improvement and maintain ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted ratings.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, commissioners, and partner agencies.

Requirements

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).

• Proven track record in managing EBD residential homes with successful Ofsted outcomes.

• Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding, care regulations, and therapeutic approaches.

• Excellent leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

• Passionate about improving the lives and futures of young people.

• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between services.
