Senior Financial Accountant

Job Description:

Salary Range: £50k to £60k
Location: Nottingham City Centre
Reporting To: Financial Controller

Are you a qualified accountant with a passion for financial management and team leadership? We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Senior Financial Accountant to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a team of 5 in financial operations and drive continuous improvement within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities Manage the full financial cycle, including:

• Reviewing management accounts
• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts
• Handling tax returns and VAT submissions
• Overseeing payment runs, banking, and cashflow management
• Managing end-to-end audits
• Preparing annual budgets and maintaining rolling forecasts
• Ensuring debt compliance, updating models, and preparing compliance certificates
• Preparing and presenting board packs and reports

A key aspect of your role will be team management — leading and motivating a team of approximately 5 finance professionals. You will ensure all deadlines are met, foster a culture of accountability, and encourage continuous learning and improvement. You will also review current processes, identify gaps, and implement enhancements to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.

What We're Looking For

• Previous team management experience
• Experience in financial reporting, audits, and compliance
• Ideally a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) - QBEs also encouraged to apply
• A strategic thinker with the ability to lead projects and drive improvements
• A motivated, proactive self-starter with a genuine passion for finance
• Proven ability to implement process improvements and optimise workflows
