SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

We are looking for experienced Senior Project Managers to assist our client who is a market leader within the Nuclear industry, involved in a cutting edge project for a new type of Power Station.
The Senior project manager needs to be familiar with project management methodologies and tools. They should also have a good understanding of risk management, budget management, and change management.
Project Manager Role
This role, reporting to a Programme Manager, will lead delivery of a number of projects within the overall programme of work. The projects and programme will have strong engineering procurement, construction and/or regulatory focus, in relation to the development of a new nuclear power station. This role will require a SPM to manage specific projects on their own, to manage a team of circa 2 to 4 project managers and to provide reporting support to the programme manager. The role will require a high level of project and programme management experience.
Project Manager – Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring on-time and on-budget project delivery of their own projects and of the projects of their team
- Leading the delivery of multiple projects within specific project plans
- Ensure the project plans are kept up to date by the team, with support from the Project Planners
- Manage the regular update of financial forecasts, with support from the Cost Engineers
- Working with key internal stakeholders to understand performance and status of the key deliverables.
- Reporting performance and escalate issues to the Programme Manager.
- Creating a positive and productive work environment both within the project team and across other business functions.
- Document lessons learned and apply these in future work,
- Review and manage project risks and provide actionable mitigations,
- Identify and implement improvements to the organisation’s processes and ways of working,
- Ensuring compliance with project management processes and procedures
- Line management of a team of Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, including but not limited to recruitment, budget and headcount management, performance management, development, and resource allocation.
- Support meetings with external stakeholders as required.
- Be able to prioritise the work within the team and understand the bigger picture is essential.
Project Manager - Experience
- Extensive experience in project management to ensure breadth and depth of role.
- The Senior Project Manager would be expected to work with the budget owner to manage an annual budget of approx. £30M (this will vary depending on the scope of delivery).
- Line management of circa 2 to 4 project managers
- The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for helping to achieve successful delivery of the project to time, cost and quality through the application of project management experience.
- Technical knowledge: Have a strong understanding of the engineering principles and practices relevant to the projects they are managing. This includes knowledge of the specific technologies and tools that are being used. Previous Regulatory experience would be advantageous, managing licensing or consenting projects, working with government bodies or delivering projects in complex regulatory environments.
- Industry knowledge: Have a good understanding of the Nuclear industry. Including knowledge of the regulatory environment, the competitive landscape, and the latest trends and developments.
