The Company
Our client is a leading name in several fields of manufacturing, with a major European and UK presence spanning numerous operational plants. As part of the continued growth of the business they are presently seeking a Transport Manager to lead and improve logistics operations at their Northamptonshire based site.
The Role
- Lead and drive operations for least cost while delivering service (internal and external customers) and other organisation goals.
- Develop then deliver budget financial and non-financial targets by maximising efficiency and performance in operations.
- Identify current and future site operations requirements. Develop strategies, plans and team capabilities to deliver requirements
- Set and define required standards to meet objectives. Challenge and Manage team and supplier performance to achieve agreed standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the performance of the Team by implementing measurable objectives and key performance targets for all department processes, within set timescales, that align with the departmental strategic targets.
- Ensure compliance to all Company Health and Safety standards at all times, always working in a health and safety conscious manner and aware of any issues that may arise from your own actions.
- To supervise and manage agreed budgets and capital expenditure specific to your area of control, and ensure auditable operational and financial records are maintained by assigned staff.
- Drive CI initiatives to imrpove efficiency and standards, utilising modern techniques and processes.
Skills and Experience Required
- CPC Qualification.
- Experience of leading and managing a Transport operation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Effective Leadership skills. Ability to inspire, motivate, direct and guide others. To be decisive, pro-active and assertive.
- Proven ability to define and manage to clear process standards.
- Problem solving skills. Ability to perform root cause analysis on issues and be able to identify corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement of dept performance. Ability to generate a range of solutions by thinking outside of the ‘box’ and uses ideas of others to reach conclusion. Evaluates course of action after implementation to determine worth and impact.
- IT literate – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- To be able to resolve conflict and build effective relationships with internal/external customers/suppliers
