£26,142.40 - £29,463.72 + Night Shift Premium Allowance (which works out approx £8,000 per year)

37 hours per week | 4 on, 4 off | 10pm - 8:15am

We have an exciting opportunity for a Waking Night Support Worker to join a brand-new Mental Health Residential Home in Coalville, Leicestershire, on a full-time, permanent basis.

About the Service

This newly developed home will provide a safe, therapeutic environment for children and young people aged 8-18 with a range of complex mental health needs. The home supports individuals who are preparing to transition from Tier 4 CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) back into the community, helping them continue their recovery journey in a stable, nurturing residential setting. Each young person receives individualised care designed to promote emotional resilience, independence, and confidence, while being supported by a dedicated and compassionate team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will:

Build trusting, nurturing relationships that promote independence, well-being, and personal growth.

Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure positive outcomes.

Maintain the safety and security of the home environment overnight.

Support with domestic duties such as cleaning and meal preparation.

Record and document information accurately and maintain up-to-date records.

Follow safeguarding procedures and ensure all policies are adhered to.

Promote a calm, therapeutic atmosphere that supports rest and recovery.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will need:

A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete this within the required timeframe).

Previous experience supporting children and young people within a residential or similar care setting.

An understanding of mental health recovery, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practice.

Flexibility to work a rolling shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You may be required to work across other residential services in Leicestershire on occasion to provide additional support.

Pay & Progression

This role includes a Night Shift Premium Allowance (one-third of hourly rate) in recognition of unsociable hours. Starting salaries are typically offered between the minimum and mid-point of the pay band, with opportunities for annual progression based on performance and contribution.
