Home Tutor – Mental Health & SEMH SupportLeicester | £30–£35 per hour | Flexible Hours | 1:1 Tuition
Are you an experienced Home Tutor, Teacher or SEN professional with a strong understanding of mental health and emotionally based barriers to education?
TeacherActive is looking for a calm, resilient and compassionate tutor to provide 1:1 tuition within a learner’s home. The successful tutor will need experience supporting young people with complex emotional and mental health needs, including pupils who may present with heightened vulnerability, emotional distress and behaviours that require careful safeguarding and risk awareness.
This role is about more than academic progress. Building trust, providing consistency and creating a safe learning environment will be central to helping the young person re-engage with education.
The role may include:- Delivering personalised 1:1 tuition in the learner’s home
- Adapting learning around the pupil’s emotional wellbeing
- Building a consistent and trusting professional relationship
- Supporting gradual re-engagement with education
- Recognising signs of emotional distress and responding appropriately
- Following safeguarding, risk management and reporting procedures
- Working closely with families and other professionals
- Setting realistic academic and personal development goals
- Has experience supporting children with mental health or SEMH needs
- Has strong safeguarding awareness
- Understands how emotional distress can impact learning and behaviour
- Is confident supporting pupils who may display high-risk behaviours
- Remains calm, patient and professional in challenging situations
- Can adapt lessons to the pupil’s individual needs and engagement levels
- Has experience with 1:1 tuition, SEND, alternative provision or EOTAS desirable
- Can establish clear, appropriate professional boundaries
- £30–£35 per hour
- Flexible tuition hours
