Long Clawson Dairy (one of the seven authorised Stilton producers) is just north of the town in Long Clawson. Samworth Brothers' kitchens — which make Melton's pork pies, ready meals, sandwiches and a big chunk of the supply to the major supermarkets — operate from multiple sites in and around Melton. Mars Petcare's UK head office is at Waltham-on-the-Wolds, eight miles north-east (Pedigree, Whiskas, Sheba), and the wider Mars graduate scheme runs through it.
